Business Name Numerology Calculator
Enter a shop, firm or company name to find its Chaldean compound and root number. Add the owner's date of birth to see how the name's root pairs with their Mulank and Bhagyank.
The name as customers see it. Digits count at face value; symbols are ignored.
Add it to compare the name with the owner's Mulank and Bhagyank.
Worked example: Sunrise Traders
An illustrative trading name, compared with an owner whose Mulank is 5 and whose Bhagyank is 6. One pairing comes out harmonious and the other less so, which is the ordinary situation rather than a problem.
Sunrise: 3 + 6 + 5 + 2 + 1 + 3 + 5 = 25
Traders: 4 + 2 + 1 + 4 + 5 + 2 + 3 = 21
25 + 21 = 46 → 10 → 1
Against the owner's numbers
Mercury counts Sun a natural friend, so 5 (Mercury) sits easily with 1 (Sun). A traditional association, not a forecast.
Venus counts Sun a natural enemy, so tradition pairs 6 (Venus) less easily with 1 (Sun). A traditional association, not a forecast.
| Pairing | Numbers |
|---|---|
| Harmonious | 1, 5, 6 |
| Neutral | 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 |
| Less harmonious | 2 |
Choosing a name for a shop, a practice or a company is one of the first real decisions a founder makes, and in India it is common for the shortlist to be checked against numerology before the signboard is painted. Business name numerology uses the Chaldean letter values, the same ones Indian practice applies to personal names, and then sets the name's root beside the owner's birth numbers. This calculator does both openly. It shows the value of every letter, the compound total and the root, and the traditional pairing with the owner's Mulank and Bhagyank, and it is frank about where numerology sits among everything else a good business name has to get right.
Which version of the name to count
Practitioners generally count the trading name the public sees: the words on the board above the shop, the logo, the website and the invoices. A company's registered name often adds a legal tail such as Private Limited or LLP, and practice is divided on whether to include it. The calculator counts exactly what you type, so the simplest approach is to enter the brand name and the full registered name separately and look at both.
Punctuation and symbols are ignored. An ampersand has no letter value, so if the brand is spoken as Sharma and Sons, type the word and. Digits in a name, as in 24 Carat Jewellers or 7 Seas Travels, are counted at face value, which is the common practice for trading names.
Working out the number
Each letter takes its Chaldean value: A, I, J, Q and Y count 1; B, K and R count 2; C, G, L and S count 3; D, M and T count 4; E, H, N and X count 5; U, V and W count 6; O and Z count 7; F and P count 8. Add the values word by word, then add the words. For Sunrise Traders the first word gives 25 and the second 21, a compound total of 46. Reduce 46 to 10 and 10 to 1, and the root is 1.
The compound number is the full sum before reduction and the root is the single digit at the end. Chaldean practice reads both, so the calculator reports both, together with each word's own figure, which helps when a name has a tagline or a second word you might drop.
What each root is traditionally associated with
Business roots are read through the same planets as personal numbers, and tradition gives them commercial flavours. A root of 1, the Sun, is linked with leadership and pioneering ventures. 2, the Moon, with care, food and public-facing service. 3, Jupiter, with teaching, advice and finance. 4, Rahu, with technology and unconventional ideas. 5, Mercury, with trade, media and communication. 6, Venus, with hospitality, design and beauty. 7, Ketu, with research and specialist work. 8, Saturn, with industry, property and patient long-term building. 9, Mars, with engineering, sport and energetic action.
These are associations handed down by tradition, useful as a way of asking whether a name's flavour suits what the business does. They are not forecasts. Successful firms exist under every root, and so do failed ones.
Pairing the name with the owner
Add the owner's date of birth and the calculator reads how the planet of their Mulank regards the planet of the business root, and then does the same for their Bhagyank. The table is derived from the natural planetary friendships in the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, reading Rahu like Saturn and Ketu like Mars, and it is printed in full with the result so every label can be checked. In the worked example the owner's Mulank is 5, ruled by Mercury, which counts the Sun a friend: harmonious. Their Bhagyank is 6, ruled by Venus, which counts the Sun an enemy: less harmonious.
Mixed results like that are normal. For a partnership, practice varies between using the managing partner's numbers and checking each partner in turn; running the calculator once per partner shows the whole picture.
The checks a name has to pass first
Before numerology has anything to say, a business name has practical hurdles. A company or LLP name must be approved by the registrar, and the online name-reservation step will reject names too close to existing ones. A trademark search on the Indian trademark registry shows whether someone else already owns the mark in your class. The domain and social media handles need to be free. The name should be easy to say and spell in the languages your customers speak, and easy to find when someone hears it once and searches for it later.
Once a shortlist passes those tests, a numerology preference is a reasonable tie-breaker for anyone who values the tradition. Renaming a business that already has customers is a different decision: the recognition the old name has earned is a real asset, and changing the signboard, bank account, GST registration and stationery all has a cost.
Spelling changes for a better number
A common suggestion is to add or double a letter until the root comes out on a preferred number. For a business this carries a specific risk: an unusual spelling is harder for customers to remember and to find in a search, and word of mouth depends on people being able to type what they heard. If a tweak is tempting, test the new spelling on a few people first. A number you like is pleasant; a name nobody can find is expensive.
A note on numerology. Numerology is a cultural tradition, not a science. These results are traditional associations offered for reflection; they are not predictions, and they should not guide decisions about health, money, work or marriage. Every calculation runs in your browser, and what you type is not sent to our servers.
Frequently asked questions
Should I use the registered company name or the brand name?
Most practitioners use the name the public sees — the brand on the signboard and website. Enter both the brand and the full registered name to see each number; the calculator counts exactly what you type.
Do Private Limited, Pvt Ltd or LLP count?
Practice is divided. They count only if you type them. Many people check the brand name alone and the full legal name separately.
Do numbers in a business name count?
Yes. Digits are added at face value alongside the Chaldean letter values, so 24 Carat adds 2 and 4 to the values of C, A, R, A and T.
Which business name number is the best?
No root is best in general. Tradition associates each with a different kind of activity and labels each as harmonious, neutral or less harmonious against the owner's own numbers. Enter the owner's date of birth to see that pairing.
My business has two partners. Whose date of birth should I use?
Practice varies. Some use the managing partner; others check each partner. Run the calculator once for each partner's date of birth to see all the pairings.
Can numerology make a business successful?
No calculation can. Customers, product, pricing, location and execution decide that. The name number is a traditional association that some owners like to consider once the practical checks are done.
